CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Rising Chattanooga Mocs senior Jordan Britt (Chattanooga, Tenn.) tees off Monday, August 5, at the United States Women’s Amateur. This year’s event is at the Country Club of Charleston in Charleston, S.C.
Britt starts on the first tee Monday at 2:30 p.m., in the final group of the day. She is paired with Bianca Maria Fabrizio and Saki Iida. The trio is off No. 10 on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., for their second 18.
The 156 players in the field vie for 64 match play positions. There are 36 holes of stroke play qualifying setting up the match play tree. A playoff will occur for ties at the 64th position.
This is the first USGA event at the Country Club of Charleston. The course was built in 1925 and is located on James Island in Charleston. It plays at par 71 at 6,488 yards.
The U.S. Women’s Amateur dates back to 1895. Britt is the fourth Chattanooga student-athlete to compete in the event, third playing as a Moc. The previous three were in 2011 at Rhode Island Country Club.
Former stars Christine Wolf (2008-11) and Emma de Groot (2008-11) were in the field, while current Britt teammate Isabella Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) made it as well prior to signing with the Mocs that fall. de Groot qualified for match play losing in the round of 64 in 19 holes.
