CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga athletics department is celebrating "Mocs Hoopla" over the 13-day period from January 22 through February 3.  "Mocs Hoopla" is based on six home men's and women's basketball games over two weeks.

It started with a Lady Mocs 71-55 win Saturday night over Western Carolina and continues this weekend with the Mocs hosting UNC Greensboro (Thursday) and Elon (Saturday).  "Mocs Hoopla" includes prizes, giveaways and promotions geared toward student attendance and involvement.  Mocs Maniacs can get their bonus cards double punched if they say "Hoopla" at the sign-in table.

Thursday's men's game with UNC Greensboro is a 7 p.m. tip.  Fans are encouraged to wear gold. Pom poms will be given out to the first 250 students in attendance.  The most spirited dressed student will win a gift card to Big River Grille.

It is also Academic Night Thursday.  Academic Night is recognition of the Chattanooga student-athletes accomplishments in the classroom which come from a record-setting semester.  All UTC faculty and staff receive a free ticket when presenting their Mocs ID at the ticket office.

Saturday's game with Elon is a double celebration with Legends Weekend as well as "Mocs Hoopla".  Legends Weekend is the reunion event for the storied Mocs basketball program with the return of fan favorites over several decades.

Fans are encouraged to wear blue and game time is 6 p.m.  Rollout banners will be given away.  The student with the best homemade Mocs shirt wins a Big River gift card.

"Mocs Hoopla" continues next week with Lady Mocs games on Monday (1/31) and Wednesday (2/2) against College of Charleston and Samford.  It concludes with the Mocs against Georgia Southern on Thursday, February 3.
