The Lady Mocs, along with member of the UTC Spirit Squad, hosted the girls in activities that included creating posters for the women's basketball game later in the evening, learning how to stay active with the Spirit Squad and a classroom session on healthy living and the importance of getting a quality education. 

"We were excited about the opportunity to work with both our Women's Center and Girls Incorporated," stated UTC Interim Director of Athletics Laura Herron.  "I think our student-athletes and spirit squad had as much fun as the girls."

The girls filled up section 101 with their mentors and watched as the Lady Mocs defeated Elon 63-40.  After the game, they all posed for a photo with the team. 

NGWSD is celebrated in all 50 states with community-based events, award ceremonies, and activities honoring the achievements and encouraging participation of girls and women in sports.  This is the 27 year of the event.
