The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Athletics Department was recognized with three national ‘Best of’ Awards at the 2013 National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) Convention in Orlando, Fla., this week. The Mocs received a Gold Award for Revenue Generation and Bronze Awards for Single-Game Attendance-Gameday Entertainment and Season Ticket Sales Campaign.
Initiated in 2003, the NACMA Best of Awards program honors outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions. Awards are presented in 13 categories, with each category divided into three groups based upon school size and conference affiliations to promote fairness. An association record of more than 1,000 awards entries were received for the 2012-13 year.
UTC’s Gold Award in Revenue Generation is for the Mocs Mobile Ticket Van. UTC took the old Mocs Golf van and converted it into a mobile ticket sales outlet to use at events around town. Local companies Ultimate Sounds and Inkfish Graphics helped to spruce up the old van with a new interior and exterior that grabbed fans’ attention and provided a space for ticket sellers to provide premier service. It has allowed the Mocs to expand their presence in the community, as well as serve as an alternate ticket outlet at events with heavy traffic. Check out the video below from the unveiling of the ticket van.
Over the past four years, the Mocs have won 12 NACMA ‘Best of’ Awards. The Gold Award for the Mobile Ticket Van was the fourth for the Mocs in the last four years. UTC is one of only eight Division I programs to grab three or more 'Best of' Awards at this year's NACMA Convention.
The Bronze Award for the Mocs Season Ticket Sales Campaign recognizes the 2012 Father’s Day Package for football. This package was created to target Dads across the Chattanooga area. This included two General Admission season tickets, a Mocs branded cooler, and a Father’s Day card all for $80. The Father’s Day Package helped to boost football season ticket sales during a traditionally slow part of the summer. Check out the MocsVision video below on last year's Father's Day Package.
The Bronze Award for the Single-Game Attendance-Gameday Entertainment category centered around UTC’s sold-out wrestling match against Iowa. The Chattanooga Strong “Pac the Mac” promotion targeted all wrestling fans and supporters in the south, and people who were looking to experience UTC Wrestling for the first time. “Pac the Mac” was an all-out marketing push for what was arguably the biggest home match ever for Chattanooga Wrestling. A school-record 2,639 fans filled Maclellan Gym for an exciting night of collegiate competition. Be sure to check out the MocsVision Sight & Sounds Video below from the day’s events.
