The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga athletics department is in the middle of one of the busiest times of the year. The spring semester is in full swing, UTC is hosting the Southern Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments, football has begun spring practice and the Mocs' spring sports are off to a strong start.
Despite the hustle and bustle around campus, a number of Chattanooga student-athletes were able to take time out and participate in the National Education Association's annual "Read Across America."
"Read Across America" is a reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss.
This year, representative from the Mocs football, softball, soccer, cross country, track & field, men's tennis and women's tennis teams all took part in the event in elementary schools throughout the Chattanooga area. They went out to the schools on Tuesday, March 2, and spent the day reading to area youth.
