Soccer Heads to Charleston for Final Road Trip

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's soccer team will head to Charleston, S.C., this weekend to close out its road slate. The Mocs (2-9-1, 0-6-0) will take on the College of Charleston Friday at 7 p.m. and The Citadel Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.

SCOUTING THE MOCS (2-9-1, 0-6-0 SoCon)
The Mocs are still searching for their first win in the Southern Conference after falling by back-to-back one-point margins over the weekend. Chattanooga forced overtime against Appalachian State before falling in the final minute of the first overtime Friday night. On Sunday, the Mocs allowed the Catamounts a single goal on a rebound off the right post. Senior Becca Smith is ranked sixth in the league for goals with four while freshman Hannah Wyatt has a league-high five assists. Freshman keeper Lauren Thomas has a SoCon best 6.1 saves per game and posted a league single-game high 19 saves.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS (3-9-1, 2-3-1)
The College of Charleston is 10th in the league standings with a 3-9-1 mark. After opening SoCon play with back-to-back 1-0 wins over Wofford and Furman, the Cougars fell 2-1 in overtime to UNCG. Over the next three games, CofC went 0-2-1 with a double-overtime 1-1 tie against Georgia Southern and losses at Elon and Davidson. Sarah Cardamone leads the team with three goals and five assists. Three more players have two goals each and Maryam Buazza has three assists. In goal, Eli Sarasola and Taylor Avery have combined for 52 saves and give up 25 goals. for a 1.89 goals-against aveage.

SERIES HISTORY
The Mocs are 2-14 against the Cougars. Charleston has won each of the last seven meetings. UTC's last win against the Cougars was a 3-2 win at home in 2004.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS (4-8-1, 2-3-1)
The Citadel opened SoCon play with a 3-0 loss to Furman the rebounded with a 3-1 win over Wofford at home. After a 1-1 double-overtime draw against Elon, the Bulldogs fell by identical 2-1 margins to both UNCG and Davidson. In its last outing, The Citadel defeated Georgia Southern 4-2 on the road. Mariana Garcia is second in the league with 10 goals on the year while Anastasia Mesa leads the team with five assists. Sarah Katchen has started 12 of the Bulldogs 13 games in goal and has 73 saves while giving up 25 goals for a 2.18 goals-against average.

SERIES HISTORY
The Mocs are 6-3-1 against The Citadel with all three of the Bulldogs wins coming in the last three seasons.
