Dr Pepper Classic - Championship Game

- UTC won its 15th Dr Pepper Classic with a 76-69 victory over Utah Valley tonight ... the Mocs improved to 5-8 overall with its third straight win ... UVU dropped to 7-9.

- This is the second straight year these two teams met in the Championship game of the Dr Pepper Classic ... UTC also won last year's contest 74-59.

- UTC's Z. Mason was named Tournament MVP after scoring a career-high 26 points and tying a career-high with 13 boards.  He had 15 points and nine boards in the first game against High Point. We went 11-12 combined from the FT line in the last 2:15 of each game.

- Joining Mason on the All-Tournament team was teammate Ronrico White, UVU's Nick Thompson and Holton Hunsaker, Austin Peay's Anthony Campbell and High Point's John Brown. 

- Hunsaker scored 37 points in tonight's game, going 12-22 from the field, 8-15 from 3-pt. range and 5-5 from the FT line ... it is the most points allowed to an opponent since Davidson's Stephen Curry had 41 on Dec. 13, 2008 ... it is the most points by a UTC opponent in McKenzie Arena since Tennessee State's Darryl Brooks had 42 in a 102-98 win on Dec. 8, 1989. 

- Chattanooga dominated the glass 48-33, including 21 offensive boards ... both are the most against a Division I opponent this season ... Mocs outscored UVU 24-16 on second-chance points.  Mocs lead the SoCon in rebounds (40.4) and rebound margin (+7.0). 

- UTC's bench outscored UVU 20-7, led by freshman Alex Bran's nine.

- The Mocs' 76 points are the most against a Division I opponent this season.

- Neither team led by more than seven points, but there were just four ties and eight lead changes ... the previous three games of the Dr Pepper Classic featured a combined 23tied and 46 lead changes.

- High Point defeated Austin Peay 76-74 in the consolation game. 

Alex Bran (Fr. - G)
- Off the bench for nine points in 12 minutes.
- Shot 4-7 from the field and 1-3 from 3-pt. range.
- Tied a career-high with three assists.

Z. Mason (Jr. - F)
- Team-high and career-highs with 26 points and 13 rebounds.
- Named Tournament MVP with 41 points and 22 boards in two games.
- Shot 8-15 from the field, 1-4 from 3-pt. range and 9-12 from the FT line tonight.
- Had six offensive rebounds ... 11 in the last two games.
- Points and rebounds are the most by a Moc this season.
- First double-double of the year ... third of his career.
- 7-8 from the FT line in the last 2:15 of the game. 
- Career-high three steals.
- Ninth game in double-figures this season ... four of last five.
- Second 20+ point game of his career ... both this season.

Gee McGhee (Fr. - G)
- 11 points on 1-5 shooting and 9-12 from the FT line.
- Career-high nine rebounds.
- Eighth game in double-figures ... four of last five.

Ronrico White (Fr. - G)
- 11 points on 4-14 shooting, 3-8 from 3-pt. range.
- Added three assists.
- Sixth game in double figures ... second straight.
