Barroetavena Named SoCon Player of the Week
Chattanooga's Manuel Barroetavena is the Southern Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played through February 10 the league office announced today.  Barroetavena opened the year with seven straight singles wins, leading the Mocs to a 5-2 start.

A native of Buenos Aries, Argentina, Barroetavena started with four consecutive wins at the No. 3 singles position.  He posted straight-set wins over Paul Schuette of Georgia Tech and Artem Tarasov of Tennessee Tech before pulling out a three-set victory (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) over Belmont's Fernando Mussolini.

Barroetavena moved up to the top singles spot against North Alabama and topped UNA's Matt Feury, 6-0, 6-3.  The senior picked up two wins at No. 2 singles over the weekend with victories over Austin Peay's Jasmin Ademovic (6-4, 5-7, 6-4) and Murray State's Tyler Jeffers (6-1, 6-2).

The Steve Baras Memorial Scholarship recipient has either clinched the match point for the Mocs, or been the first to finish a singles match in each of UTC's seven matches.
