Mocs Womenís Golf in 10th with 18 to Play

PARRISH, Fla. --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team is in 10th after 36 today at the Central District Invitational. UTC shot rounds of 303 and 316 for a total of 619, seven shots ahead of Georgetown.

Sophomore Mette Kryger (Nivaa, Denmark) led the Mocs shooting 151 (+7). That puts her into a tie for 18th. Freshman Emily McLennan (Queensland, Australia) was next on the squad at 154, standing tied for 34th. Juniors Jordan Britt (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and Marion Duvernay (Publier, France) shot 156 and 158, respectively, while sophomore Porsche Campbell (Vancouver, Canada) ended at 164.

No. 13 Vanderbilt leads the event at 588. No. 17 Michigan State is second following a 590, while SMU is third with a 595. The Commodores' Lauren Stratton and Spartans' Caroline powers are the individual leaders at one-under par 143.

Kryger got off to a good start. She was tied for first after the opening 18 at one-under par. She played her first 12 holes three-under par with three birdies and nine pars. Kryger dropped back to level before a birdie on the par three 12th, her 17th hole of the day got her back to minus one and tied for the lead.

Britt's 75 was the second low score on the squad through the first round. The Mocs were tied for sixth at 303 after 18 holes, eight shots behind the Spartans in first at 295. McLennan (77) and Duvernay (80) rounded out the counting scores.

The afternoon was not as kind. McLennan's 77 paced Chattanooga's 316. Duvernay (78), Kryger (80) and Britt (81) counted towards the second round tally. The Mocs are three shots behind Minnesota in ninth at 616.

Freshman Isabella Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) and sophomore Agathe Sauzon (Valence, France) are playing as individuals. Loza's consistent rounds of 75 and 74 ties her for 11th at five-over 149. Sauzon is tied for 27th at 153.

Tomorrow's final round is a shotgun start at 8 a.m., for the Mocs. The squad is paired with Georgetown and Kent State teeing off on holes 13-16. Follow live scoring at the link above.
