Chattanooga Lady Mocs Basketball Postgame Quotes
Chattanooga at Appalachian State
Holmes Center - Boone, N.C.
Saturday - March 2, 2013
Head Coach Wes Moore
Thoughts on the game:
"It has been a great year. I am so proud of the kids, first of all, for their effort. They came out today...I did a horrible job preparing this team the last two days. I was so focused on preparing this team for the things they do offensively...it is more about what they do defensively. I woke up about five o'clock this morning, tossed and turned and thought, 'What have I done?' Then the kids just come out and bail me out. They played determined...senior day, good crowd here and our kids didn't bat an eye. I am so proud of what they have accomplished. We will enjoy this regular season title, but next week we erase the board and start a new season at the conference tournament."
On the Lady Mocs handling Appalachian State's different looks on defense:
"They did a great job. We knew Appalachian State has some wrinkles on defense and they would probably do some diamond-and-one and we saw a little bit of that. We saw some different defenses, 1-3-1, 2-3, triangle-and-2, and they did a great job of handling whatever was thrown at them."
On coaching another championship season:
"It is all about the players. I told them in the locker room, 'Ya'll did a great job.' As I said before, I didn't really do a good job preparing them. They bailed me out, they forgave me, and we will move on."
On UTC's deep bench and everyone getting to play and score:
"That is the thing. We do have a great bench and we play a lot of people. Going into this game we thought that would be a factor as well. Some of the better teams in our conference, their top players have to play 38-39 minutes, so I think our bench makes a big difference in that regard."
