The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga saw 10 student-athletes receive their diplomas at the school's 231st Commencement on Sunday, Aug. 9, at McKenzie Arena.
"I would like to congratulate the 10 student-athletes who saw their hard work in the classroom pay off at the Summer Commencement ceremonies," stated UTC Director of Athletics Rick Hart. "They are excellent examples of the comprehensive excellence we all strive for in Mocs athletics."
Women's basketball's LaCondra Mason finished her degree in Health and Human Performance with cum laude honors. She led the Mocs to their 10th consecutive Southern Conference regular season championship and an appearance in the postseason WNIT.
Wrestling's Cody Cleveland graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. He was the 2009 SoCon Wrestler of the Year and will be back for his final year of eligibility in 2009-10. 2009 165-pound SoCon Champion Seth Garvin graduated with a Sociology and Anthropology degree.
Football standout Kenny Scrivens also earned his Criminal Justice degree. He played in nine games with two starts and recorded 22 tackles last season. Three other football student athletes finished their degrees, including Charles Profit (Business Administration), Aaron Adams (Business Administration) and Jarvis Newson (Business Administration)
Women's golf's Kayla Stewart graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. She qualified for the 2009 U.S. Women's Amateur. Other Summer 2009 graduates include women's tennis's Bonnie Adams (Human Ecology) and volleyball's Michaela Huff (History).
