The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga had 36 student-athletes named to the 2010 Fall Academic All-Southern Conference Team today. The squad consisted of representatives from football, volleyball, men's and women's soccer and men's and women's cross country.
To be eligible, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average entering the fall season and are required to compete in at least one-half of their team's competitions during the recently-concluded fall campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours in the previous two semesters.
The 36 Mocs are the most UTC has put on one Fall Academic All-SoCon team in school history. It also tied for second in the league with Appalachian State and only trailed Elon's 42. The Mocs stack up well against the league, considering UTC does not field a men's soccer program.
The Mocs football team led the way with nine honorees. It is the second highest number in program history, trailing only the 10 who made the team in 2009. Women's soccer and volleyball both set team records with nine and eight honorees, respectively. The cross country team rounded out the representation with three men and seven women listed.
