The Chattanooga Mocs athletics department recently distributed prizes to three local schools for their participation in the Mocs Basketball Middle School Night at McKenzie Arena.  Among the prizes awarded to the different schools were Staples Gift Cards and a new computer.

Prizes were awarded based on the percentage of students from area middle schools who attended the Mocs’ Jan. 31 men’s basketball game against Southern Conference rival Georgia Southern.

Earlier in the year, the Mocs distributed vouchers for free admission to the Georgia Southern game to all Hamilton County Department of Education Middle Schools.  The vouchers were good for one ticket for all students enrolled in 6th-8th grades.

Dalewood Middle School received a new computer for having the highest percentage of its students at the Mocs’ 100-87 win over Georgia Southern.  Red Bank Middle School finished in second place and won a $250 Staples Gift Card.  The Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences came in third place and received a $100 Staples Gift Card.

All prizes awarded from the 2009 Mocs Basketball Middle School Night were donated by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Department of Athletics.
