The Chattanooga Mocs Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) recently spent time at the Children’s Home/Chambliss Shelter in Chattanooga, Tenn. Representatives from many of the Mocs’ teams were on hand to promote physical fitness to the youth in attendance.
Chattanooga’s SAAC program is known for its community involvement and willingness to volunteer in the Chattanooga area. The Mocs spent the day in the gym playing basketball and on the playground providing leadership and positive influences to the youth at the shelter.
Taking part in SAAC’s visit were Dakota Pate and Rick van de Bovenkamp from the men’s tennis program; Joshue Vasquez, Blake Ketron and Michael Danehy from the track & Field squad; and women’s basketball student-athletes Capriee Tucker, Tagan Hatchett and Kori Penland.
SAAC is a committee made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience at UTC. The SAAC also offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives.
