Mocs Announce 2013-14 Schedule

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling head coach Heath Eslinger announced the Mocs 2013-14 schedule today.  UTC has six home dates that include six dual matches and the prestigious Southern Scuffle, presented by Defense Soap and Flip Audio.

The Mocs open the season with the Blue & Gold Match at the First Tennessee Pavilion.  This is the second year in a row the wrestling team will take its exhibition to the Mocs football tailgate party.  Action begins at 11:30 a.m. as a part of the pregame festivities for UTC’s 2:00 p.m. football game against The Citadel.

The regular season kicks off on Friday, Nov. 8, when Chattanooga hosts Cumberland and Wisconsin.  After a Nov. 8 trip to the Hokie Open, the Mocs return home to host Life and Shorter in Maclellan on Nov. 16.  UTC closes out a busy opening month with a Nov. 23 trip to the Navy Classic in Annapolis, Md.

Chattanooga faces Purdue in a neutral match on Dec. 15 in Atlanta, Ga., before kicking off Southern Conference action at home against Gardner-Webb on Dec. 16. The Mocs close out the calendar year with a trip out west that includes a Dec. 20 match at Stanford and the Reno (Nev.) Tournament of Champions on Dec. 22.

Chattanooga will ring in the new year with the 2014 Southern Scuffle.  This is the third edition of this event in the Scenic City.  The Southern Scuffle has grown into the premier in-season tournament in college wrestling.  A full list of teams and participants for the Scuffle will be announced in the coming weeks.

UTC is back on the road at the Virginia Duals on Jan. 10-11, followed by SoCon trips to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville (1/19) and The Citadel (1/22).  The final home match of the season is Feb. 2 against Appalachian State.

The Mocs close out the regular season at Campbell (2/8), at Davidson (2/9) and at VMI (2/23).  UTC will also take part in the NWCA National Duals in Columbus, Ohio, on Feb. 16.

The Southern Conference Tournament is set for March 8 and the NCAA Championships are March 20-22 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
