The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling teams hosts a pair of opponents in home action this weekend. The Mocs welcome Shorter University and Life University to Maclellan Gym on Saturday, Nov. 16.
The afternoon of action begins at 3:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) with the Lady Mocs volleyball team wrapping up their season against Furman. The wrestlers hit the mat at 5:30 p.m. against Life and 7:00 p.m. against Shorter. Admission is FREE to all three events.

The Mocs are 2-3 overall after a busy opening weekend. UTC split matches with Cumberland (W, 42-3) and No. 8 Wisconsin (37-3) at home on Friday, Nov. 8. Chattanooga then went 1-2 at the Hokie Duals on Sunday, Nov. 10. The Mocs defeated Hofstra (19-14) before losing to No. 17 Virginia Tech (27-10) and Rider (17-19).
Shorter is a provisional member of the NCAA Division II, entering their final year of transition. The Hawks are 0-1 after falling in their season opener at Oklahoma (32-12) on Nov. 2.
Life is a member of the NAIA and is 0-1 on the season. The Running Eagles lost their opening match at St. Andrews (25-15) on Wednesday. This is the first time UTC has faced either Life or Shorter in dual match competition.

MOCK NAMED SOCON WRESTLER OF THE WEEK
Junior Corey Mock is the first SoCon Wrestler of the Week for the 2013-14 season. A junior transfer from North Carolina, he opened his Chattanooga career by going 5-0 with a trio of wins over ranked opponents.
The 165-pounder started with a 9-2 decision over Cumberland’s Kirk Johnson in a 42-3 team win. Later that evening, Mock topped Wisconsin’s Frank Cousins 6-1.
Two days later at the Hokie Duals in Salem, Va., Mock went 3-0, downing three ranked wrestlers. He dropped No. 11 Joseph Booth 5-1 in the win over Hofstra. Against 17th-ranked Virginia Tech, he posted an 8-0 major decision over No. 10 Chris Moon. The Chapel Hill, N.C., native capped his afternoon with a 5-0 win over No. 12 Ramon Santiago of Rider.
MOCS IN THE RANKINGS
UTC has two wrestlers currently ranked in either the Intermat or Amateur Wrestling News Top-20. Junior Corey Mock is 5-0 on the year and No. 7 in the AWN poll at 165. He is also No. 8 in the Intermat listings.
Fellow junior Nick Soto had a rough start to the season at 133. After losing two matches on opening night, he bounced back with three wins at the Hokie Duals. He is No. 18 at 133 in the AWN Top-20.
CANDLELIGHT DINNER MATCH SET FOR DEC. 16
The Mocs are holding their first Candlelight Dinner Match against Gardner-Webb on Monday, Dec. 16. Tables for eight will replace the bleachers in the lower section of Maclellan Gym, while team members not competing will be your servers for the evening.
