Clemons, Lampe Place at University Nationals

Two members of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling team placed at the 2014 Asics University Nationals over the weekend.  Senior Levi Clemons and junior John Lampe both finished in the top-eight of the freestyle competition at the national event.

Clemons went 7-3 in the 80KG bracket on his way to a sixth place showing.  He opened the tournament with a 10-4 decision over teammate Corey Mock and started with three consecutive wins.  He also scored a 5-2 victory over 2014 NCAA All-American Tyler Wilps in the back draw. 

Lamp went 6-2 overall and placed seventh at 86KGs.  He advanced to the quarterfinals of the main draw before making his way through the consolation bracket.  He ended his tournament with a 12-2 technical fall over Iowa’s Kris Klapprodt in the seventh place match.
