The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling team opens the Southern Conference portion of its schedule with The Citadel this weekend. The Mocs host the Bulldogs as a part of the Legends Weekend celebration on Sunday, Jan. 27, at 2:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) in Maclellan Gym.
UTC is the last of the eight teams in the SoCon to compete in a league match. Chattanooga went 4-6 in non-conference duals, with four of its five losses coming against teams ranked in top-20 in the nation.
The Citadel is 3-4 overall and 2-1 in SoCon action. The Bulldogs lost to Campbell (25-13) on Wednesday for their first setback in league action. Campbell is tied for second in the conference standings with The Citadel at 2-1. Appalachian State leads the league with a 3-1 conference mark.
Tickets are $5 for the match and available at the gate or on GoMocs.com. Doors open at 1:00 p.m.

The Citadel is 3-4 on the year and 2-1 in Southern Conference. The Bulldogs have wins over Davidson (32-12) and Appalachian State (25-13) in SoCon action. Their 38-3 win over VMI at the Virginia Duals on Jan. 11 was not part of the conference schedule, but still counts in the overall record. The losses have been against SoCon foe Campbell (25-13), Army (27-19) and No. 25 Old Dominion (26-9) in the Virginia Duals and Arizona State (42-6).

There are two possible individual rematches from last year's dual, based on the probable lineups. Senior Robert Prigmore posted a pin over Josh Tuck at 184 while The Citadel's Odie Delaney defeated sophomore heavyweight Kevin Malone (6-3).
Prigmore is 3-0 in his career against Tuck, also winning 3-1 in the first round of the 2012 SoCon Tournament and 8-6 in overtime of the Hokie Open in November.
Malone is 0-3 all-time against Delaney. He was pinned in their first meeting a the 2011 Davidson Open and also lost a 9-0 match in the finals of the 2012 SoCon Tournament.
Senior Dean Pavlou lost to No. 8 Ugi Khishignyam 8-3 at the Hokie Open in the only other rematch on tap for Sunday.
LEGENDS WEEKEND IN MACLELLAN GYM
The Mocs are set to host "Legends Weekend" Jan. 26-27. All former wrestlers, trainers, managers and coaches are invited to take part in the two-day event. There is a private reception at the Chattanooga Marriott on Saturday, Jan. 26 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. All retuning alumni will be honored during the Mocs match with The Citadel on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 2:00 p.m. in Maclellan Gym. MOCS AT THE SOUTHERN SCUFFLE
UTC had four Mocs advance to the round of 16 at the 2013 Southern Scuffle, presented by Defense Soap. Seniors Niko Brown (197) and Dean Pavlou (141) and sophomores Kevin Malone (285) and Nick Soto (125) all advanced at the national tournament held in McKenzie Arena. Pavlou and Brown made it to the quarters with Pavlou placing eighth overall. As a team, UTC finished 14th out of 24 squads.
MOCS SET RECORDS IN 2012 FALL SEMESTER
The UTC wrestling team had an overall program record 2.89 grade-point-average for the 2012 fall semester. The Mocs also set team records with 14 on the Dean's List and 18 on the AD Honor Roll. Senior Dean Pavlou (Health & Human Performance) and freshman John Lampe (History) were two of 28 student-athletes at UTC with a 4.0 g.p.a. in the fall.
SOTO & BROWN RANKED THIS WEEK
Sophomore Nick Soto is No. 18 according to Intermat this week and is No. 18 in the AWN rankings. Soto is 17-6 overall with a 7-3 mark in dual matches. He finished second at the Wolfpack Open and won the Hokie Open earlier in the year. Senior Niko Brown is No. 18 in this week's AWN top-20 at 197 pounds. He is currently 20-3 overall and undefeated in dual matches at 8-0.
