The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s tennis team wrapped up play in the main draw of the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional in Memphis, Tenn., Saturday. Junior Kaylene Chadwell and sophomore Kayla Jones won a doubles match in the opening round.
Jones and Chadwell posted an 8-6 win over MTSU’s Tiffany William and Jesse Grace in the first round. They had a tough opponent in the second round, matching up against the No. 2 seed of Caitlin McGraw and Nadia Ravita from Kentucky. Jones and Chadwell battled hard against the nationally ranked Wildcat pair before falling 8-4.
Jones, Chadwell and senior Alexa Flynn all dropped their first round singles matches in the main draw. Complete results from Saturday’s action involving the Mocs are listed below.
All three individuals will compete in the consolation bracket on Sunday. Chadwell takes on Ball State’s Bethany Moore at Noon (E.D.T.), followed by Flynn against Miami’s (Ohio) Chloe Heerden at 1:00 p.m. Jones takes on Kentucky’s Stephanie Fox at 2:30 p.m.
