2011 • REDSHIRT SEASON: Sat out the season after transferring from Navy. 

PRIOR TO UTC: Transferred to UTC after spending one season at Navy ... saw limited action as a defensive lineman for the Midshipmen. 

HIGH SCHOOL:  A 2010 graduate of Riverdale High School, Mayes was a three-year letter winner on the football team and lettered once as a thrower on the track & field squad ... named the district's lineman MVP in 2009 ... earned All-State (Tenn.) and all-district honors his senior year ... also served as the football team captain in 2009 ... runner up for the 6A Lineman of the Year award.
