CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team awaits its annual rite of passage Monday, April 29. That’s when the squad learns its NCAA Regional site for play May 9-11. Possible locations are Auburn, Ala. (Auburn University Club), Norman, Okla. (Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course) and Stanford, Calif. (Stanford Golf Course).
UTC is in its fifth straight regional as a team. The program, which was built from scratch by Head Coach Colette Murray beginning with the 2007-08 season, has been a part of NCAA postseason play all six years of its existence.
The Mocs are in the field this year by virtue of an automatic bid for its win at the Southern Conference Championship April 14-16. Chattanooga led wire-to-wire for a six-stroke win over Furman which is hoping for an at-large bid. It was the fourth straight league title for the team and third in a row for an individual.
SoCon Medalist Agathe Sauzon (Valence, France) leads UTC into the postseason. She claimed her first collegiate win last time out in a playoff topping College of Charleston’s Mary Chandler Bryan with a short birdie putt on the first extra hole. The duo shot two-over par 218 for the 54 holes in regulation.
Sauzon, Emily McLennan (Queensland, Australia), Isabella Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) and Porsche Campbell (Vancouver, Canada) would be making their first appearances in regional action, while Jordan Britt (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and Mette Kryger (Nivaa, Denmark) bring two and one year of experience, respectively.
