Chattanooga in 12th, de Groot Top 10 in Texas through 36 Holes

AUSTIN, Texas --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's golf team made a move up the leaderboard, both individually and as a team, Saturday afternoon at the University of Texas Golf Club.  Chattanooga shot the sixth-best round of the day with a 301.

The Mocs moved from 15th to 12th passing No. 24 UC Davis, Washington and Oklahoma out-scoring all three by more than 10 shots.  UTC is one shot behind Northwestern in 11th and three shots shy of 10th-place Notre Dame.

Junior Emma de Groot moved to a tie for 10th after her even-par 72.  Through 36 holes, de Groot's 147 (+3) leaves her five shots behind leaders Stephanie Kono (UCLA) and Sarah Zwartynski (Texas A&M) at two-under par 142.

No. 1 UCLA leads the event after today's 290 puts the Bruins at 585 (+9), one shot clear of No. 7 Arizona (586).  No. 25 Texas A&M is in third at 589.

Maria Juliana Loza and Moa Duf each shot 76 (+4) for their second rounds, while Christine Wolf rounded out the team scoring with a 77, while Katie Taylor carded an 84.

Loza is tied for 34th at 153.  She is tied or ahead of 11 players currently ranked in the Golfstat top 100 including being tied with No.6 Jodi Ewart of New Mexico.

The final round is a shotgun start that begins at 9:45 a.m. (ET).  The Mocs are paired with Northwestern and Notre Dame starting on holes 10 (Loza, de Groot), 11 (Wolf, Duf) and 12 (Taylor).

>Maria Juliana Loza's 76 included two birdies, 10 pars and six bogeys...Maju and Emma are the only Mocs to count in 21 rounds this season.

>Loza, de Groot, Moa Duf and Christine Wolf each avoided scores higher than a bogey today...That gives the Mocs 44 rounds with no worse than a bogey this season...Loza is looking to become just the second Mocs golfer to record no worse than bogey for 54 holes this season.

>Moa Duf's 76 is her second lowest round since returning to the starting lineup this Spring.
