Chattanooga Women’s Golf Trails by Two after 36 Holes
Emma de Groot is tied for 3rd heading into the final round.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's golf team is in second place heading into the final round of the Southern Conference Championship at Moss Creek Golf Club.  Chattanooga shot 297 this afternoon to move within two shots of College of Charleston.

Charleston is atop the leaderboard at 601 with the Mocs lurking in second at 603.  UNC Greensboro is third at 610.

Junior Christine Wolf's one-under par 71 today is the lowest round by a UTC golfer in the event in the program's brief three-year history.  It paced the team's 297 which is also the lowest team round.  Wolf carded four birdies and 12 pars on her round as she vaulted from a tie for 24th to a tie for ninth overall at plus-seven (151).

She joins Emma de Groot and Maria Juliana Loza in the top 10 for the Mocs.  de Groot is tied for third as today's 72 gives her a 36-hole total of 148 (+4).  Loza is tied for seventh at 150 (+6) shooting 76 in round two.

Moa Duf's 78 (+6) rounded out the counting scores today for Chattanooga.  She now stands tied for 15th at 154 (+10).  Senior Katie Taylor is 43rd at 177.

Appalachian State's Yue Xu is the tourney leader at minus-three, 141, after matching de Groot's even-par 72.  Ainhoa Nogales of CofC is second at 145 (+1), while Diana Davis (Elon) is tied with de Groot for third at 148.  Nogales and Wolf tied for the low round of the day at 71.

The Mocs tee off No. 1 tomorrow morning at 8:50 a.m., led off by Taylor.  Chattanooga is paired with UNC Greensboro and College of Charleston for the second straight day.  Taylor will be followed by Duf, Wolf, Loza and de Groot.
