Chattanooga Womenís Golf Announces Two Signees

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Fresh off its first Southern Conference Championship, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's golf team announces two signees for the 2010-11 season.  Incoming freshmen Jordan Britt (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and Yushira Budhram (Bryanston, South Africa) will join the team in August head coach Colette Murray said Monday.

Britt led Signal Mountain High School to the TSSAA A/AA State Championship winning medalist honors by nine shots shooting 144 (73-71) after tying for third competing in AAA at GPS as a junior in 2008.  She posted two top 10s on the SJGT (Southeastern Junior Golf Tour) last summer.

"I believe Jordan's best golf is ahead of her," said Murray.  "She has so much talent and ability.  It will be fun watching her grow over the coming years."

Budhram ranks as one of the top junior players in South Africa.  Planning to major in Psychology, she won eight times as a junior and has competed internationally including the 2006 and 2008 Doral-Publix Junior and Orange Bowl Junior Classics with a top 15 in the 2006 Doral-Publix event.  She also participated in the 2007 Mastercard Junior Masters (Australia) and DLF Women's Indian Open (Asian Tour event) as well as the 2009 British Girls Amateur.  She recently finished second in the Gauteng Women's Open.

"I am very excited about the adition of Yushira to our program," added Murray. "She brings a lot of experience and tremendous depth to our squad. Yushira is a very bright young lady who will contribute to our team goals both on the course and in the classroom."

The duo joins three returning Mocs from this year's championship team in rising seniors Emma de Groot and Christine Wolf, as well as soon-to-be junior Maria Juliana Loza.  Loza and de Groot were named to the All-Southern Conference team.

The Mocs recently finished 18th at the NCAA East Regional in Greenville, N.C.  It is the second regional appearance in the three-year history of the program.  de Groot competed as an individual in the 2008 NCAA East Regional in the team's inaugural season. is the official website of the Chattanooga Mocs.  The Mocs can also be followed on their official Facebook page,, or on Twitter,
