Loza named to NGCA All-Central Regional squad
Rising senior Maria Juliana Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) was honored by the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) for her strong play at the NCAA Central Regional in May. She was named to the NGCA All-Central Regional team.
Loza finished tied for eighth at seven-over par 223 with a level par final round of 72. She was four-over through 12 holes of her final 18 when she fired four birdies in the final six holes including three straight birdies to close out 16, 17 and 18. The gritty performance got her into a playoff for the final qualifying spot which she lost as her par putt just slid by on the first playoff hole.
Duvernay slated to play in interesting Swiss tourney
Rising sophomore Marion Duvernay (Publier, France) is off to Switzerland next week for the Championnat du Leman. The four-day, 72-hole event is played on four different courses around scenic Lake Leman in the cities of Geneva, Lausanne and Montreux. First round is Friday, June 10, with the final round on Monday, June 13. She has already captured one title this summer: Yves Caillol Cup.
