Britt loses to eventual runner-up at Southern Women's Amateur
Britt was a quarterfinalist last week at the 96th Southern Women's Amateur at the Capital City Club Brookhaven Course in Atlanta, Ga. She tied for third in the qualifying round with a level par 72. Britt opened match play with a 1up win over Ole Miss' Kathryn Fowler followed by a 4&3 triumph in the round of 16 over Wendi Golden. Duvernay winds up second in Switzerland
Rising sophomore Marion Duvernay (Publier, France) just missed her second win of the summer finishing second at the Championnat de Leman in Switzerland. The four-day, 72-hole tourney was played on the four different courses surrounding scenic Lake Leman. Duvernay was three strokes off the lead entering the final round. She made the turn at minus one to get within two shots, but back-to-back three putts derailed her momentum. She is working diligently on her game for the next five weeks in preparation for the European Individual Amateur in July.
Wolf second at Vienna Championships
Departing senior Christine Wolf (Igls, Austria) finished second at the Vienna Championships at Golfclub Wien Freudenau in Austria. She shot 290 over 72 holes to fall by a single stroke. A strong putter, Wolf had four three putts in her final round which kept her from claiming the title. She is slated for a lot of USGA play over the summer. It starts June 27 at the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links at Brandon Dunes Golf Resort in Brandon, Ore. (June 27-July 2). That's followed by the U.S. Women's Open July 7-10 at the Broadmoor (East Course) in Colorado Springs, Colo. She wraps up her USGA major swing with the U.S. Women's Amateur August 8-14 at the Rhode Island Country Club in Barrington.
