NOTES

  • This is the fourth UTC entry in the SunTrust Gator Women's Golf Invitational. The best finish - individually and as a team - came in 2010. Emma de Groot (Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia) earned her fifth career win in her junior season in a playoff after a final round 68 (-2) gave her a two-over total of 212. The Mocs ended up fourth among 15 teams shooting 892, the team's best finish and total in the three prior visits.
  • Britt shot a career-best 220 (+4) at the last weekend's JMU Eagle Landing Invitational. She fired rounds of 70, 74 and 76. The 70 tied her season-low as she tied for 10th, her second career top 10. The previous was her runner-up finish at the 2011 Southern Conference Championship.
  • Mette Kryger (Nivaa, Denmark) closed strong at Eagle Landing tallying her first par or better round as a collegian. The one-under par 71 over the final 18 holes bettered her prior low round of 73 done multiple times. The highlight of the round came from a fairway bunker on the par four ninth hole. From 145 yards out and the wind in her face, Kryger holed out with a five iron for her second eagle of the season.
  • Kryger was two-over through eight holes before the eagle. It spurred her to play her last 10 holes at three under.
  • Britt has 16 birdies in her first six rounds of the spring, 2.7 per 18. She has 44 for the season (2.44/rd) which leads the squad.
  • Maria Juliana Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) battled injury and illness in the fall struggling to an 80.33 stroke average. In two spring events, her average is 75.67 strokes per round, second only to Britt's 75.17 through 108 holes.
  • Chattanooga's best round on Mark Bostick Golf Course is 293 in the second round of the 2010 SunTrust Gator Women's Golf Invite.
  • Sophomore Sophie Weilguni (Langenlois, Austria) is seeing her first team action of 2012 after joining the team in January. She played as an individual on Kiawah Island finishing tied for 59th at 233 (+17), the team's third-best result. She struggled at Eagle Landing tying for 90th shooting 245. She was plagued by five "others" in her 54 holes which accounted for 16 strokes over par.

2011-12 BESTS

  • Team Scores: 18 hole (293, Tar Heel Invite 3rd), 36 holes (604, Tar Heel Invite), 54 holes (897, Tar Heel Invite).
  • Individual Scores: 18 hole (70, Jordan Britt twice, Marion Duvernay), 36 holes (144, Jordan Britt, JMU Eagle Landing Invite), 54 holes (220, Jordan Britt, JMU Eagle Landing).
