GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- The Chattanooga Mocs are tied for 10th with No. 14 Baylor after the first round of the SunTrust Gator Women's Golf Invitational Friday. UTC shot 302 today behind sophomore Jordan Britt (Chattanooga, Tenn.) who is tied for fifth at even-par 70.
Britt's 70 included two birdies and 14 pars. She trails Georgia's Emilie Burger who leads after a three-under par 67. Maria Salinas (FSU) and Camilia Hedberg (Florida) are tied for second at minus two, while USF's Christina Miller is in fourth at one under.
Mette Kryger (Nivaa, Denmark) and Sophie Weilguni (Langenlois, Austria) shot 75 (+5) and 77 (+7), respectively. Kryger is tied for 36th, while Weilguni is tied for 51st. Maria Juliana Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) and Marion Duvernay (Publier, France) rounded out the Mocs day with twin 80s (+10).
No. 2 Alabama is the first round leader at 284. It has a two-shot lead over No. 10 Georgia in second at 286. Florida State is six shots back in third at 290.
Chattanooga returns to the course for round two of three in the morning. Duvernay leads off No. 10 at 10:30 a.m., playing with Baylor and UCF.
