GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- The Chattanooga Mocs ended up 15th three shots ahead of Mississippi State at the SunTrust Gator Women's Golf Invitational. UTC shot 923 for its 54 holes.
Chattanooga native Jordan Britt led the Mocs tying for 39th carding 225. She had the low round today for the squad with a 76 (+6) to go with her opening 70 and yesterday's 79.
Mette Kryger (Nivaa, Denmark) and Sophie Weilguni (Langenlois, Austria) finished within a stroke of each other. Kryger shot 231 which was one ahead of Weilguni at 232. Weilguni had a team-best six birdies for the three rounds. Maria Juliana Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) shot 236, while Marion Duvernay (Publier, France) tallied a total of 239.
No. 23 Florida and No. 2 Alabama began the day tied at 577 (+17). The two were paired together and battled through all 18 holes with the Gators claiming a one-stroke victory over the Crimson Tide. Florida State was a distant third, 13 strokes back.
The Seminoles' Maria Salinas fired a four-under par 66 to nab medalist honors at minus four, 206. Florida's Camilla Hedburg and USF's Christina Miller tied for second at 208.
Chattanooga has a final regular season tourney April 9-10 at the Knights & Pirates Invite. The event is at Suntree Country Club in Melbourne, Fla. Live scoring can be accessed on GoMocs.com on the women's golf schedule page.
