HILTON HEAD, S.C. --- Jordan Britt (Chattanooga, Tenn.) leads after 36 holes at the Southern Conference Championship at Moss Creek Golf Club. Britt's one-under par 71 not only vaulted her into the lead individually, but it led UTC up the leaderboard to just four shots out of first place with 18 holes to play.
The Mocs' 303 today was the low round mounted a serious charge up the leaderboard. Starting the day tied for sixth, UTC's ladies trailed by 22 strokes as they finished their round with leader UNCG through six to 12 holes.
As the round continued, Chattanooga watched the leaders fall back to them in the clubhouse at 620. The Spartans (616) shot 17-over par on the back nine to see their lead shrink to just four shots heading into Tuesday's final round. College of Charleston is third at 631.
Britt's one-under par 71 moved the sophomore from tied for seventh into first. She carded four birdies on her round with 11 pars against three bogeys.
Her 148 (+4) total is three shots clear of teammate Maria Juliana Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) who is tied for second with Furman's Alexa Rancourt at 151. UNCG's Ana Lucia Martinez is fourth at 152.
Mette Kryger (Nivaa, Denmark) is tied for 19th at 159. Her second round 76 was joined by Marion Duvernay's (Publier, France) 82 to round out the team score. Duvernay has a 36-hole total of 162, while Sophie Weilguni (Langenlois, Austria) stands at 169.
The final round starts at 8:50 a.m., for the Mocs, UNCG and Charleston in the day's final grouping. Weilguni leads off No. 1 followed by Duvernay (9:00), Kryger (9:10), Loza (9:20) and Britt (9:30). Live scoring of the round can be found on the GoMocs.com women's golf schedule page.
