The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team captured its third straight Southern Conference Championship in 2011-12. UTC also advanced to its fifth NCAA Regional appearance, fourth as a team.
It was an epic SoCon Championship for the Mocs. The team trailed by as many as 22 strokes midway through the second round, but made its charge to steamroll past UNCG, Furman and College of Charleston.
The ladies ended up with a three-stroke triumph over runner-up UNCG and 18 clear of the Cougars. The Mocs overcame a four-shot deficit to UNCG to start the day. UTC was two back with the final two holes to play before pulling out the win.
Jordan Britt led the way winner her first collegiate event by three shots over the 32nd-ranked player in the country, UNCG's Fanny Cnops. Britt also won by three out-dueling Cnops over the final three holes as Cnops played in the group in front of Britt's final pairing.
Chattanooga went to the NCAA East Regional finishing 19th. While the regular season was not up to the program's expectations, the ladies played championship-level when it counted. The Mocs return four starters for 2012-13 and welcome Isabella Loza, Emily McLennan and Porsche Campbell to the lineup.
