Tull Named AP All-American

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga sophomore Davis Tull was named to the Associated Press Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) All-American Second Team today.  It is the third All-American honor for Tull, a former walk-on turned starting defensive end for the Mocs.

Tull is the first UTC football student-athlete to earn recognition on three All-American teams in one season since receiver Alonzo Nix in 2003.  He has already garnered spots on the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) first team and The Sports Network second team.

Tull, the 2012 Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year, is a native of Knoxville, Tenn. He led the SoCon with a UTC single-season record 19.0 TFLs and 12.5 sacks.  He finished the year fifth on the team with 56 tackles while forcing three fumbles.  He is currently second on the Mocs' all-time list with 17.5 career sacks.

Tull was also named to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District team for his work in the classroom. He currently carries a 3.43 g.p.a. as a Health & Human Performance major.  He is one of three All-Americans for the Mocs this season, including junior linebacker Wes Dothard (Sports Network 3rd Team, College Sports Madness 3rd Team) and sophomore tight-end Faysal Shafaat (College Sports Madness 3rd Team).

Chattanooga finished 6-5 overall and tied for fourth in the SoCon with a 5-3 league mark. UTC posted a winning record for the third time in the last four years. The Mocs have not had a run like that since 1984-87.
