Southern Conference Tournament Championship Game

Head coach Wes Moore
Opening statement ... "I felt like the last two games, I hadn't helped them. They just found a way to get it done. Taylor Hall took the game over yesterday on her own and then today a lot of people made plays. They did a great job on Kayla (Christopher) and hounding her on defense and making it tough for her to get looks. I felt like I wasn't doing a good job of getting her shots. But she found a way to get her own shot. We talk all the time about rebounding and how important it is. We had 21 offensive rebounds. We took 70 shots to their 41. They shot 53 percent and we shot 35 percent. But if you crash the boards and can get that second and third look, then you can find a way to win. They have done it all year long."
"This group has been unbelievable. It's been such a fun group to coach. I know they don't believe that most of the time by my demeanor. I love how hard they've worked and how coachable they've been. So many times this year, we've had our back to the wall and they've found a way to get it done. I love them. I'm really happy that they're being rewarded. It's been a grind. For them to go 19-1 in the regular season and then start all over, then be rewarded for what they've done for the last few months is awesome. I'm excited. I think we have a team that can compete in the NCAA tournament and I'm excited about the opportunity after getting through this."
Senior guard Kayla Christopher
On the final offensive possession ... "Coming out of the timeout, I stressed to everyone to crash the boards. We had 20 seconds on the clock, so we had a chance for more than one shot. Taylor (Hall) and Ashlen (Dewart) did a good job keeping the offensive rebounds long enough to get the second look. I was able to sneak in there on the weak side and be at the right place at the right time."
Junior forward Ashlen Dewart
On the ending of the game ... "It's a perfect way for the season to end, with Kayla (Christopher) hitting the winning shot. I can't even tell you how important she's been to this team. The last play was just the cherry on top. I was worried for a half-second after I missed the second one. Then Taylor (Hall) and Kayla came flying in. It was an amazing game. I'm so proud of our seniors and our team."
