SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- Freshman Emily McLennan (Queensland, Australia) earned Southern Conference Women's Golfer of the Week honors for her play last weekend. McLennan tied for ninth at the JMU Eagle Landing Invitational.
It is her second top 10 of 2012-13 along with a tie for fourth at the 2012 Lady Paladin Invitational. This past weekend she carded rounds of 71, 74 and 76 for a season-low 221 for 54 holes. The 71 is her first under-par score of the season.
McLennan had five birdies and 39 pars over her 54-hole trek. She also posted 10 bogeys without a single score higher than bogey for the event. She played the par fives at minus two.
She is the first Golfer of the Week for the Mocs since Christine Wolf on March 16, 2011. Wolf's also came after the JMU Eagle Landing Invitational where she won in record fashion. It is the ninth golfer of the week honor for a Mocs women's golfer since the program began in 2007-08.
Emily and her squad opens play Friday, March 15, at the SunTrust Gator Women's Golf Invitational.
