CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.--- As the countdown to kickoff of the 2013 college football season continues, the Chattanooga Mocs highlights the game-by-game promotions for this season’s home games. With six contests in Finley Stadium on the slate, fans are in for thousands of giveaways, new and exciting gameday themes, and plenty of tailgating events to keep them entertained.

We start our weekly highlight of each game’s promotional efforts with the Thursday night Home Opener on August 29, against UT Martin. The Mocs officially kickoff their “Tried & True Blue” campaign and encourage fans to wear blue to ALL Mocs and Lady Mocs home events this season.

To support these efforts 3,000 blue shirts will be given away the week leading up to the game and at the gates. The first opportunity to get your hands on a free shirt comes on August 1 when UTC asks its fans to take the “Tried & True Blue” Pledge. The first 1,000 fans to pledge to bring a friend to the opener will be able to pick up their free shirt during Mocs events leading up to the season. Stay tuned for more information on The Pledge on August 1.

In addition to the free shirts, the opener features 3,500 thundersticks and 3,000 poms to be given away in the stands to create a true home field atmosphere inside Finley Stadium.

The Mocs celebrate “Tried & True Blue” Opening Week beginning Monday, August 26. Students should be on the lookout throughout the week as the coaching staff makes visits to the University Center with free swag targeted for UTC Students.

Downtown fans will be greeted during their morning commute by members of the spirit squads handing out schedule cards, posters, and promotional codes. Join Head Coach Russ Huesman for the Mocs Season Kickoff pep rally on Wednesday, August 28 at noon. The pep rally takes place at Miller Plaza and will feature the Marching Mocs pep band, spirit squads, and football student-athletes. The Chattanooga train will also be in attendance to distribute its share of free prizes to fans.

This game is also featured as Academic Night. During the game, UTC will recognize the academic accomplishments of its student-athletes from the Spring 2013 semester. The Mocs finished the 2013 spring term with a 2.92 overall grade point average and had a school-record tying 11 teams post a 3.0 or better g.p.a.

In all, 126 student-athletes made the Dean’s List with a 3.2 or better, while 156 made the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll (3.0+). Both were the highest numbers on record for a spring semester, and over half of the Mocs scored a 3.0 or better for the eighth consecutive term. Chattanooga also put 22 student-athletes on the 2013 Spring Academic All-Southern Conference Team leading the SoCon with three student-athletes carrying a 4.0 cumulative grade-point-average among its spring sports.

To avoid lines on game days, fans are encouraged to use the #GoMocs promotional code on the ticket page for $13 print-at-home general admission tickets during the 2013 season. (Regularly $15 at the gate)

Season tickets are on sale here. Membership in the UTC Mocs Club enhances ticket opportunities. For more information call (423) 425-4233 or go online here.
