CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.--- The Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team opens its spring schedule at the Central District Invitational. The 54-hole event begins with 36 holes Monday and ends with a final 18 on Tuesday.
Michigan State hosts the tourney on Cypress Links Course at Lakewood Ranch in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. It is a par 72, 6,325-yard tract welcoming 14 teams.
Along with Chattanooga and MSU, UCF, Houston, Indiana, Louisville, Minnesota, UNCG, Notre Dame, Oakland, Rutgers, SMU, Toledo and Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt (14), Michigan State (20) and UCF (21) are all ranked in Golfstat’s Top 25. Louisville (41) and Notre Dame (44) are in the Top 50.
All seven Mocs are on hand with Jordan Britt (Chattanooga, Tenn.), Isabella Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia), Emily McLennan (Queensland, Australia), DeeDee Russell (Gold Coast, Australia) and Agathe Sauzon (Valence, France) comprising the team entry. Porsche Campbell (Vancouver, Canada) and Sarah Dolmovich (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) are playing as individuals.
Britt leads the squad with a 74.19 stroke average. McLennan is second at 75.31 followed by Sauzon (75.50). The team is on a school-record scoring pace averaging 301.29 strokes per round which is a shade below the 301.58 mark for the 2010-11 season.
The Mocs have one win so far, shooting 876 capturing the Starmount Fall Classic in October. They opened the season with a third-place finish at Louisville’s Wild Eggs Cardinal Cup in September.
