WOMEN’S GOLF SUMMER UPDATE

June 16, 2009

>Maria Juliana Loza won an interesting event sponsored by FORE at Ruitoque Golf Club in her native Colombia.  FORE is the foundation started by UCLA’s Maria Jose Uribe who just turned pro after the NCAA Finals.  The two-day tournament was played over 36 holes, but it only allowed an 18-hole score as the best result of the two days on each individual hole counted.  Maju’s 69 won the event.  She is next in action the first week of July at the Bucaramanga Open played at Ruitoque and Club Campestre De Bucaramanga.

>Christine Wolf qualified for the British Women’s Amateur competed June 6-13 at Royal St. David’s Golf Club in Harlech, Wales.  Wolf failed to make it out of the stroke play portion shooting 161 (+15) over 36 holes.  She will play at the Tyrolean Championships which is a regional amateur event in Austria this weekend.  Wolf is the three-time defending champ.

>Kayla Stewart will play in the Tennessee Women’s Amateur at the Memphis Country Club.  The event starts on Monday, June 22, and runs through Saturday the 27th.
