Head Coach Wes Moore
Opening thoughts on the game:
"There are no easy ones. Especially on the road, I knew it would be a tough game. I can't say enough about Ashlen Dewart. We would have been in a whole lot of trouble without her. Nine offensive rebounds, 24 points, 13 total boards. We rode her pretty hard tonight. She is probably going to be sleeping on this road trip home."
On Dewart only having four points at halftime for the second-straight game:
"We are setting people up with that. As we say in Texas, 'We have an Ace in the hole.' We've got an Ash in the hole. She stepped up. I think we were down five in rebounding at the half and ended up winning it by six."
More on the game:
"You look at what I call the hustle stats. We outscored them 25-4 off turnovers. We were out there making it hard on them to run their stuff and creating some turnovers and some easy buckets. We also outscored them 23-4 on second-chance points off offensive rebounds. That is 48-8. That was the ballgame. If we don't hustle and make those plays, we lose this ballgame. I am proud of that. I am proud of our bench. Our kids off the bench have been a big difference this year as well. I am proud of the whole team. They just keep chugging away."
On keeping the team focused:
"There are a whole lot of upsets this time of year. We are just trying to keep everyone focused and on task. This was a big road trip. Now you go home and you have two games at home with a chance to wrap up a championship if you can take care of business on your home court. It is nice to get these two road wins and put yourself in a situation where all we have to do is protect our home."
On the play of Alicia Payne:
"I probably should have played her more in the second half. She is coming on. She is growing up right before our eyes. That is the thing, she has hit a couple of shots the last couple of games and she has got a little bit of confidence. She is able to attack off the bounce and when you can do that, people are going to back off some. If she starts knocking down shots consistently, she is going to go from being a role player to being a great player. Hopefully, that is going to happen."
On Ka'Vonne Towns returning to the lineup:
"Ka'Vonne gives us a big lift because of her energy. It is nice to get her back out there. Even stuff that doesn't show up in the stat sheet. Hustle plays. She went and got five boards in 18 minutes, which is pretty good. She will knock the rust off and hopefully by the weekend will be back."
