The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga will hold a special recognition to honor its 2013 Southern Conference Champion football team on Friday, Nov. 22. The Mocs have clinched at least a share of their first league championship since 1984. UTC is 8-3 overall, 6-2 in SoCon action, and close out the regular season on Saturday at No. 1 Alabama.
The celebration is set to take place on Friday at Noon at the Chamberlain Pavilion in the heart of campus. Hosted by UTC Chancellor Dr. Steve Angle, the event will feature head coach Russ Huesman and members of the football team, Vice Chancellor & Director of Athletics David Blackburn, the UTC Band and Spirit Squads.
Students and fans are encouraged to come check out the Clarence Stasavich Memorial Trophy, given each year to the SoCon football champion. Those in attendance will also be able to take photos with the trophy, as well as congratulate the coaches and student-athletes.
UTC will also be handing out giveaways, including free SoCon Champion T-shirts, along with plenty of refreshments.
Fans coming on campus can park in the 5th Street Garage. The event will move into the Tennessee Room in the University Center if there is inclement weather.
