Huesman Named to CFPA Quarterback Watch List

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga junior Jacob Huesman is one of 36 named to the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Quarterback Watch List heading into the 2014 season. 

Huesman, the 2013 Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Year, was the first Moc to win the league’s offensive award.  He finished the season with 1,637 yards through the air and was was 164-for-240 with 16 touchdowns and just five interceptions. He also ran for 894 yards, scoring another nine touchdowns on the ground.

"Congratulations to Jacob Huesman on once again earning a spot on the CFPA Watch List," said CFPA Executive Director Brad Smith. "Huesman has been one of the top performers in the Southern Conference since his freshman season, and his contributions in 2013 were statistically significant to Chattanooga's success."

The goal of College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. Twenty-eight CFPA winners have been first-round NFL Draft selections.

The Mocs kick off the 2014 season on the road at Central Michigan on Thursday, Aug. 28.  Chattanooga’s first home game is set for Saturday, Sept. 6 against Jacksonville State.  Season tickets are on sale now on GoMocs.com.
