THE LAST TIME THEY MET...
Samford and Chattanooga last met two weeks ago in Birmingham at the Pete Hanna Center. The Lady Mocs came away with a 66-60 win over the Bulldogs in a game that drew close over the second half. UTC started out knocking down three straight 3-pointers en route to a 15-0 lead, its largest of the half. Chattanooga would keep a generous margin throughout the first half and led 30-19 at the break after the Bulldogs drained a trey at the buzzer.

In the second half, Jazmine Martin stepped up her game and scored 22 of her game-high 31 points shooting 77.8 percent for the game and a blistering 10-of-11 (.909) in the second half alone. Chattanooga held off the barrage and never gave up the lead despite Samford getting to within two points in the final three minutes.

Hannah Dawson joined her teammate in double figures with 11 points and recorded a double-double with 12 rebounds and dished out four assists. The Bulldogs, playing with just seven on the roster for the night due to injury and illness, got scoring from everyone.

Chattanooga was led by Ashlen Dewart's 14 points while junior Taylor Hall (New Tazewell, Tenn.) and Kayla Christopher each added in 12 points. Christopher had six rebounds and five assists along with three steals. Freshman Tatianna Jackson (Atlanta, Ga.) had nine points and a team-high nine rebounds in the win along with two assists and three steals.

SERIES HISTORY
Chattanooga and Samford have met 17 times since 1998 and 11 times since the Bulldogs joined the Southern Conference in 2008. UTC holds an 11-6 advantage and 6-5 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs swept the Lady Mocs in both regular season contests and the SoCon tournament in 2011 before going on to beat Appalachian State in the finals. The two teams split the games last year with each winning at home while Chattanooga won the game earlier this season in the Southern Rail Rivalry Series.
