NEXT UP
UTC closes out the home portion of its schedule next weekend. It hosts UNCG on Thursday at 7 p.m., and has Senior Night vs. Elon on Saturday at 7:30.

MR. 1,000
"Voice of the Mocs" Jim Reynolds is coming up on his 1,000th Chattanooga basketball game. His first was November 29, 1980, an 82-53 win over Maryville. UTC won its first of 18 regular-season titles that season. A coincidence? We think not. The school has won more than 600 games since Reynolds took over as "Voice of the Mocs" in 1980. He's in his 33rd season and will be celebrated at the February 21st game vs. UNCG.

OPENING TIPS
- This is the lone road game in a seven-game stretch for Chattanooga. It went 3-1 over the first four in Chattanooga. The seven-game span with six in McKenzie Arena follows six of eight on the road to start 2013 in league play.

After that, the top two conference marks regardless of division get the remaining tickets to the quarterfinals. Elon (10-3 North) and Davidson (13-1 South) lead their respective divisions. College of Charleston (10-3) and Western Carolina (8-6) are next in line. UTC is currently 1.5 games behind the Catamounts for the final bye.

- McGhee's 143 FTA leads the SoCon.

- White is five FTM shy of 100 on the season. He would become the 28th Moc in the DI era to eclipse 100 FTM in a season. The last was Nicchaeus Doaks (2006-09) with 139 in 2008-09. He would be the 12th guard.

- White has been among the league leaders in FT% and attempts all year. He has made his last 13 and 19 of 20 (95.0%). Over his last 18 games, he's made 87.3 percent (62-71).

- The 34-point triumph Thursday over Furman is Chattanooga's largest SoCon margin of victory since 34 (93-59) over East Tennessee State on January 22, 2005.

- The runaway win over Furman provided a key benefit for the Mocs. Entering the final contest in a five-in-ten stretch, two of the four leading scorers played season-low minutes (McGhee 21 & Zlovaric 10) and the other two (Mason 22 & White 16) played their second fewest.

- Casey Jones started the first 11 games before a knee injury in the Reinhardt game. He missed 14 games before returning Thursday against Furman.

SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
- Wofford is 10-17 overall, 4-10 in the SoCon South. It is 7-3 at home, 4-3 vs. SoCon competition.
- Mike Young 166-170 in his 10th season on the Terriers bench. He is 5-8 against UTC, 3-3 in Spartanburg.
- Wofford leads the SoCon in scoring defense (59.6) and defensive rebound percentage (.737).
- Three Terriers average in double figures: Karl Cochran (15.2), Spencer Collins (12.8) and Lee Skinner (10.1). The trio has taken 68.9 percent of the team's shots.

MURRAY ARNOLD
The Chattanooga Mocs lost a legend on Nov. 14, 2012 as former Head Coach Murray Arnold passed away in Florida. He laid the DI championship foundation coaching for six years, 1980-85, with a 135-46 record. He coached collegiately at four institutions (Birmingham Southern, Western Kentucky and Stetson) amassing a 420-229 mark in 22 seasons. The Mocs captured four SoCon Championships in six UTC campaigns advancing to three NCAA Tournaments and two NITs reaching the Elite 8 (NIT) in 1985 and narrowly missing the NCAA Sweet 16 in 1982.
