CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Sophomore Agathe Sauzon (Valence, France) earned her first Southern Conference Golfer of the Week honor announced Wednesday by the league office. She posted her first collegiate top 10 on Tuesday tying for eighth at the Web.com Intercollegiate in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Sauzon fired rounds of 72, 72 and 73 for a two-day, 54-hole total of 217. The one-over par mark is the lowest tournament score for the Mocs since Christine Wolf (2008-11) shot 209 (-7) at the 2011 JMU Eagle Landing Invitational.
“Aggie” posted six birdies, 41 pars and seven bogeys for her tourney. The 41 pars are the most by a Moc this season, while the 15 in her final round ties her own and Isabella Loza’s (Bucaramanga, Colombia) marks in 2012-13.
Sauzon is a mid-season enrollee at UTC. She joined the program in January in time for the spring semester. She is currently second on the squad in scoring average (76.13) behind Emily McLennan (Queensland, Australia – 75.96).
Chattanooga heads into the postseason this Sunday at the Southern Conference Championship. The three-day, 54-hole event is at Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head, S.C., Sunday through Tuesday. This is the fourth year at Moss Creek with the Mocs capturing the previous three. Live scoring is linked on the women’s golf schedule page on GoMocs.com.
