After posting a 4-3 non-conference mark, the Mocs dropped below .500 with back-to-back Southern Conference losses to outgoing Davidson and Georgia Southern. Both games were decided by just one goal with Chattanooga scoring first each time. Junior Crystal Mackezyk is fourth in the league in shots (29), points (13), points per game (1.44) and goals (5) and fifth for shots per game (3.22) and goals per game (0.56) while recording a team-best two game-winning goals. Sophomore Clare Latham is second on the team in scoring (11 pts) with four goals and three assists. Sophomore Hannah Wyatt who has two goals and three assists, sustained an injury against Davidson and missed the Mocs’ game against Georgia Southern. Freshman Monica Speth has two goals and two assists while sophomores Loryn Queen and Melanie Arredondo have two goals apiece with one game winning goal each. In goal, the Mocs have used both sophomore Lauren Thomas and senior Taylor Mangrum. Mangrum has given up nine goals for a 1.68 GAA with 33 saves (.786). Thomas also has nine saves (2.47 GAA) along with 24 saves and a .727 saves percentage.

The Paladins are on a seven-game unbeaten streak that includes six wins. Furman’s two losses were a season-opening 1-0 loss at Clemson and a 2-0 loss at Georgia in the season’s third game. The Paladins have four shutouts in the streak including a 4-0 win over Mississippi State and a 7-0 blanking of The Citadel. Stephanie DeVita leads the SoCon with eight goals and three assists (19 points) with 61 shots this season. India Robinson has a conference-best 12 assists. Four more players have two goals each while six other Paladins have found the net. Keeper Rose Hull has started nine games in the net and has allowed just three goals for a .55 goals against average, second-best in the SoCon. She has 34 saves for a .919 saves percentage that is best in the league.


Chattanooga vs. Furman
Furman and Chattanooga have met 19 times since the Mocs began competition in 1996 with the Paladins claiming all victories. In 2011, the Mocs allowed a late Furman goal to force overtime and fell 4-3 in the extra period.


The last time they met …
Last year Furman posted a 5-1 won over the Mocs. The Paladins were allowed just one goal in the first half and led 1-0 at the break. Furman scored four goals in the second half and allowed just one to the Mocs. Lauren Thomas pulled down a career-best 19 saves. Furman’s Stephanie DeVita recorded two of the Paladin second half goals.
