CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's soccer team will open Southern Conference action Friday, Sept. 24 at Finley Stadium as they take on UNC Greensboro at 7 p.m.
The Lady Mocs closed out the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 2-6 overall record. Junior Donna-Kay Henry lead the team with five points including a pair of goals and freshman Kerbi Towry also has two goals. Freshman keeper Taylor Mangrum has seen action in six games and nabbed 40 saves and recorded her first collegiate shutout with a 1-0 in over USC Upstate.
Through non-conference play, the Spartans lead the league with a 5-1-1 mark that includes a 2-1 win over #10 Wake Forest on the road. UNCG has seen six different players score including three with multiple goals on the year. Lauren Hein leads the team with three goals and one assist while Tabitha Padgett and Jenn Partenheimer have two each. Kelsey Kerney has started all seven games in the net for the Spartans recording 26 saves with a saves percentage of 83.9 and has only allowed five goals while recording three shutouts.

UNC Greensboro leads the series with Chattanooga 10-3-1. The Spartans have won the last five matches against the Lady Mocs beginning with a 2-0 shutout in the SoCon tournament in 2005.
LAST TIME OUT
The Lady Mocs fell 8-0 to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville as they closed out the non-conference portion of their schedule. Freshman keeper Taylor Mangrum grabbed 15 saves, sixth best in school history, but gave up seven goals. Senior Kelly Downs was red-carded during the match and will have to sit out UTC's Southern Conference opener vs. UNC Greensboro.
THREE NAMED TO BORDER CLASSIC ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Senior Serena Allen, junior Donna-Kay Henry and sophomore Lauren Wilson were named to the Gardner-Webb Border Classic held in Boiling Spirngs, N.C., Sept. 10-12. The Lady Mocs posted a 1-1 record in the tournament with a 1-0 win over USC Upstate on the final day.
MANGRUM NABS FIRST COLLEGIATE SHUTOUT
Freshman keeper Taylor Mangrum has seen extensive time in the net for Chattanooga and on Sept. 12 against USC Upstate in the Border Classic, the Franklin, Tenn., native recorded her first collegiate win and shutout in a 1-0 contest. Mangrum is 1-3 on the year.

Sophomore Becca Smith and junior Donna-Kay Henry were named two of the Top 20 players to watch in the Southern Conference. Smith, the league's leading scorer last season despite playing a 16 game schedule, was the top player in the league to watch according to TopDrawerSoccer.com. Henry, a two-time all-conference selection, was the sixth on the watch list.
