CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's soccer team will host Bryan College in the spring game Saturday, March 31 at Finley Stadium with a 10 a.m. start. The alumni will be on hand for the inaugural Alumni Game set to kick off at 9 a.m. at Finley Stadium.
"We'll use this scrimmage and our others this spring to let us see where we are as a team and see where we can improve," UTC Head Coach J.D. Kyzer said. "Also, the spring gives the players a chance to try new things without the pressure of the regular season."
The spring game is one of at least four scrimmages this spring. The Mocs took on Lipscomb earlier this month and will face the University of the South, Sewanee as well as Covenant College and a possible matchup against Tennessee Temple.
Prior to the Spring Game will be an all-alumni event. Former Chattanooga soccer players will take the pitch in a friendly. The women's soccer program was started in 1996 under former head coach Linda Whitehead. She led the program for four years. Kyzer took over in 2000 and in his 12 years has produced 15 all-conference performers including Donna-Kay Henry (Queens Village, N.Y.), Chattanooga's only four-time all-conference performer.
The event is free and open to the public. Following the soccer match will be a football kids clinic followed by the football spring game at 2 p.m.
