Former Mocs from as far back as the first team fielded at UTC in 1996, along with recent graduates, took on the current Mocs team for a friendly at Finley Stadium Saturday morning.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga freshman Crystal Mackezyk (Columbia, Tenn.) recorded a hattrick in the Mocs 6-0 win over Bryan College in a spring scrimmage match at Finley Stadium Saturday morning.
Junior Lauren Wilson (Columbia, Tenn.) got the scoring started with a shot from 20 yards out early in the first half. Mackezyk drove home her first goal of the game to put the Mocs up 2-0, a lead UTC carried into intermission.
In the second half, the scoring heated up with Mackezyk netting her second goal from 10 yards out over the outstretched hands of Bryan's keeper to make it 3-0 in favor of the Mocs. Moments later, on a corner kick, Mackezyk headed the ball through to put the Mocs up 4-0 and giving her the hattrick.
Sophomore Kelly Crew (Brisbane, Australia) got in on the scoring by picking up a deflection off Bryan's keeper in front of the net and sailing it to the back of the net. Chattanooga nabbed its last score from all-conference performer, junior Becca Smith (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) who blasted the ball into the top left corner for a final score of 6-0.
Prior to Saturday's scrimmage, the Mocs stepped onto the pitch to take on former Lady Mocs in the inaugural Alumni Game. The alumni all gathered briefly on campus Friday night before moving the party to Big River Grille and Brewing Works. Alumni from as far back as the first team to recent graduates made the trip to the Scenic City.
