The Mocs will open the season at home against Tennessee Temple on Friday, August 17 in a first-ever regular-season meeting between the two teams.
"We're excited to get them on our schedule this year," Kyzer said. "We were both looking for another game to add and with two teams from the same city facing off, we hope this will be a great atmosphere of women's soccer.
Following the season opener, UTC will host Tennessee Tech on Sunday, August 19 with Alabama State coming to town the next Sunday. The Mocs are 11-4 against the Golden Eagles, including a four-game win streak. This will be UTC's first meeting against Alabama State.
"It will be good to have these three home matches to start the season," Kyzer said. "We will be prepping for the season on Davenport Field and it helps to start the year with so many games on the field where you prep. Also, with a large number of incoming players, it will help get them acclimatized to the collegiate game."
Chattanooga will move on to a five-game road trip that includes non-conference matchups at Lipscomb, Austin Peay and Gardner-Webb. The Mocs will travel to Nashville to take on the Bison on August 31 then move on to Clarksville, Tenn., to face the Lady Govs. UTC will close out the non-conference slate in Boiling Springs, N.C., against Gardner-Webb on September 7.
"Traditionally we use the non-conference games to prep for the Southern Conference portion of the schedule. Eight of our conference games last season were decided by a goal or less and that had to do with depth," Kyzer said. "We have brought in several newcomers to control that lack of depth."
The Mocs will open the Southern Conference schedule on the road with back-to-back games beginning at Davidson on September 21. UTC dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to the Wildcats at home and will look to get back in the win column. Chattanooga's extended road trip concludes Sunday, Sept. 23 at Georgia Southern in a 2 p.m. matchup. Despite outshooting the Eagles last season, the Mocs dropped a close 2-1 game at home.
The Mocs will briefly make their way back home to host Wofford in a Thursday matchup on Sept. 27 before hitting the pavement to travel to Furman for a contest on Sunday, September 30.
The start of October will bring the Mocs back to the friendly confines of Finley Stadium for two of their five home matches to close out the season. Appalachian State enters the field on Friday, October 5 with Western Carolina on the following Sunday. The Mocs game against the Mountaineers last season ended with a double-overtime 1-1 tie while UTC posted a decisive 3-0 win over the Catamounts.
Chattanooga will travel down to Charleston, S.C., to take on the College of Charleston on Friday, October 12 followed by a Sunday afternoon contest at The Citadel. The regular season will roll to a close with three straight home matches beginning with Elon on Friday, October 19. The Mocs will host UNCG on Sunday, October 21 and then bring a close to the regular season on Wednesday, October 24 hosting Samford in the Southern Rail Rivalry Series.
All home games are played at Finley Stadium/Davenport Field. Admission is always free and outside food or drink is not allowed.
