CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs and Lady Mocs 2012-13 squads are on display for the first time Tuesday night at 7 p.m., for the annual Memorial Blue-Gold Tipoff Presented by Praters. This year's Blue-Gold extravaganza returns to McKenzie Arena after a few years in the First Tennessee Pavilion.
The Mocs open the evening with a 10-minute half of scrimmage. That is followed by the Lady Mocs providing a 10-minute playing session. The men return to the floor for the second half of their play for the evening.
There are several promotions and game activities, highlighted by a costume contest for students. The winner gets a choice of front row seats to the Lady Mocs game with Tennessee in McKenzie Arena on Nov. 9 or a gift card to a local merchant or restaurant.
"It's the first chance to see both teams this season," Interim Director of Athletics Laura Herron stated. "We are very excited about the upcoming year and hope our fans enjoy this first look."
The Lady Mocs are game-ready on Thursday this week, hosting Lee in an exhibition contest at 7 p.m. The season opens the following Friday, November 9, as Tennessee makes its way to the Scenic City for a 7 p.m. tip. Free student tickets are available for the Lady Vols game this Friday in Maclellan Gym following the volleyball matchup with UNCG which begins at 6 p.m.
The Mocs open the season at home on Monday, November 12, against Tennessee Temple at 7 p.m. After a trip to Kansas, they return home to host the CBE Classic Chattanooga Sub-Regional Sunday through Tuesday, November 18-20, with Louisiana Tech, Southeast Missouri and Troy coming to town. There will be two games per night as the teams play a round robin.
