Chattanooga hosts UNCG Friday on Bone Marrow Donation Awareness night and Saturday's match against Elon serves as senior night.
Mocs Host Final Home Matches Friday, Saturday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.-- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team () returns to Maclellan Gym Friday and Saturday night for its final two home matches of the 2012 season.

Friday night's match against UNC Greensboro (13-11, 7-5 SoCon) begins at 6 p.m. and will serve as Bone Marrow Donation Awareness night. The match will be played in honor of the late Eddie Parman, the father of senior outside hitter Heather Parman (Ooltewah, Tenn.), and the late Dr. Carolyn Thompson, the wife of former UTC chancellor Dr. Roger Brown. Both of which passed within a month apart in early 2012 due to cancer and bone marrow failure.

Friday night is also the first opportunity for students to pick up their tickets for the Tennessee basketball game after the match. Each individual will be allowed to pick up his or her ticket, plus one additional, with two valid UTC Mocs Cards.

Saturday's match will also begin at 6 p.m. with Senior Night celebrated beforehand. Before the match, seniors Parman, Meagan Ernd (Munster, Ind.), Paula Passmore (Merritt Island, Fla.) and Christina Teter (Signal Mountain, Tenn.). The Mocs take on the Elon Phoenix (14-13, 7-5 SoCon) for the final match of the season.

The Spartans ride a three-match winning streak into Chattanooga Friday. The last meeting between the two teams was a 3-1 victory for UNCG at Fleming Gymnasium in Greensboro, N.C., on Oct. 6. Greensboro ranks fifth in the SoCon with 13.06 kills per set and 12.00 assists per set. The Spartans are still in the hunt for the top-spot in the SoCon, tailing the 9-2 Samford Bulldogs. Junior Karrian Chambers leads the Spartan offense with 319 kills.

The Elon Phoenix dropped the Mocs 3-0 on Oct. 5 in the teams' last matchup. Elon is the seventh-best hitting team in the league with a .191 percentage, and its blocking is sixth in the SoCon with 1.92 blocks per set. Freshman Megan Gravley is averaging 3.06 kills per set, totaling 297 kills on the season, and sophomore Kris Harris is averaging 0.89 blocks per set.
